Haseko Abest published the 2025 “Stations Where People Want to Live (Around the Tokyo Area)” rankings on September 16, based on a web survey of 2,766 residents conducted July 11–20.
Kichijoji returned to the #1 spot in the overall Greater Tokyo ranking for the first time in three years, praised for its vibrant shopping scene and quiet residential neighborhoods just a short distance away.
Second place went to Yokohama, noted for its scenic seaside and pleasant views; third was Ōmiya, valued for its excellent transit connections.
Significant movers upward in the rankings this year include Kashiwa, Kitasenju, Funabashi, and Tsudanuma, reflecting increasing preference for suburban hubs offering good transit, shopping, and comfortable living environments.
By prefecture: • Tokyo 23 wards – #1 Kitasenju, #2 Nakano, #3 joint New York-like (?)
